Exciting Announcement

Wildcat Faithfull:

We are pleased to announce our newest member of the coaching staff!  We are truly blessed to have coach Mike Wood from Derry Pennsylvania join our program.  Coach Wood has been involved in the sport of wrestling for over 20 years and brings a wealth of knowledge with him.  During his head coaching tenure at Derry High School, Mike coached 5 PIAA State Champions!  Even the most casual wrestling fan knows, the Keystone state has arguably the best wrestling talent in the country (Pennsylvanians would assert there is no argument about it-haha).  Recently, one of Coach Wood’s protégés stunned #1 ranked and Ohio State bound Hunter Stieber 7-2 and was awarded OW in the prestigious Dapper Dan Classic.  With the addition of Coach Wood, the Rockbridge Wrestling program has assembled quite the staff:

Head coach:  Steve Kingery - Master Recruiter, Fundraiser, and Administrator who has quietly assembled one of the best high school wrestling staffs in Virginia.  Kingery is also amazingly successful at keeping coach Bruce out of trouble with the referees.  Rumor has it that coach Wood can be a bit lively in the corner as well-we’ll see if he rivals coach Bruce.

Assistant coach #1:  Mike Wood - Overall coaching record in Pennsylvania of 114-59.

Assistant coach #2:  Aaron Bruce - Former Associate Head Coach at VMI, coaching 7 individuals to NCAA Div. I Top-12 finishes.

Assistant coach #3:  John Pollock - Ret. Col. In the United States Marine Corps and former VMI wrestler.

Assistant coach #4:  Charlie Armentrout - Former Rockbridge Co. High School wrestler.

Soon to be Assistant coach #5 but he doesn’t know it yet, JB Harris. As many know, JB wrestled in high school and is highly influential with the young athletes in our county.  If you see JB, put a bug in his ear.  JB could be the crucial recruiting component that begins our future domination of the Virginia Wrestling scene.
